Agoro Carbon Alliance concludes its Kharif summer launch with an event felicitating its farmer family

The one-day event saw the felicitation of the farmers who supported and worked with Agoro Carbon Alliance to learn and adopt sustainable & carbon farming practices

April 27, 2022: It is the farmers’ hard work that ensures we have food on our tables every day. Understanding this, Agoro Carbon Alliance, founded to address the global challenge in agriculture at the core of its operations, organised the Agoro Carbon Alliance Kharif Summer Season Launch event. The one-day event took place at Randoli, Karnal in Haryana. Over 150 farmers and their families attended the event, including farmers already associated with Agoro Carbon and potential farmers from nearby villages also.
The event was organised to recognise the efforts of the farmers, their families, and channel partners who have worked with Agoro Carbon and have assisted them at every step of the way in promoting sustainable & carbon farming. In addition, farmers who worked with Agoro Carbon to make the Rabi crop season a success and have recently harvested the produce shared their happiness and experience with attendees.
Besides this, Anastasia Pavlovic, COO, Agoro Carbon Alliance, Agoro Carbon Alliance Prithviraj Sen Sharma, Managing Director and Country Head of Agoro Carbon Alliance India, Dr. Yebin Zhao, Global Agronomist, Agoro Carbon Alliance, Giulia Sartori, Carbon Project Developer Expert, Agoro Carbon Alliance, Shaara Rahim, Strategic Advisor to the CEO, and Dr. Sudarshan Dutta, Lead Agronomist, India, Agoro Carbon Alliance – all gathered on-ground to celebrate the first successful season with the Agoro Carbon farmers.
The event started with the felicitation of grower Chandra Prakash by Anastasia Pavlovic, COO, Agoro Carbon Alliance, for being a torchbearer for Agoro Carbon and inspiring numerous farmer friends. Furthermore, the event witnessed the launch of the Agoro Carbon Mitra program by Anastasia Pavlovic. The growers associated with Agoro Carbon and who work on Agoro regenerative agriculture demonstrations on his farm will be ambassadors for the program. As community leaders during the already started summer Kharif crop season in Punjab and Haryana, they will be a local community representative of Agoro Carbon Alliance’s mission, vision and operations. A team from the local Punjab and Haryana-based YCNCs (Yara Crop Nutrition Centres), along with office bearers from Yara Fertilisers, were also present at the event. Yara Fertilisers & Agoro Carbon Alliance are both aligned in the mission of bringing sustainable farming in a very real and grounded way for Indian growers.
Agoro Carbon remains in constant touch with farmers throughout the crop cycle journey, starting from soil survey & sampling to cultivation to provide timely feedback and suggestions for their crops and growth. They assist farmers with input management, such as nutrient, crop, water, residue, and tillage management, to produce more sustainably. In addition to the benefits of climate-resilient crops, healthier soil, and sustainable crop production, it also addresses the major problem of agricultural carbon emissions.
Anastasia Pavlovic, COO, Agoro Carbon Alliance, said, “Farmers in India are highly participative and proactive. We observed the enthusiasm in each and every farmer we engaged with, through the event, to accept and adopt sustainable practices of farming. They want to learn more and implement the best possible ways of farming, which, therefore, motivates us to work harder with them. I was delighted to be a part of this event and would like to express my gratitude to our grower friends for being part of the Agoro Carbon Alliance family.”
Anastasia also honoured Mrs. Saroj Kalra as AGORO CARBON MAHILA KISAN, an initiative launched at the event to give women farmers a platform to empower them with knowledge of sustainable & carbon farming practices. This indicates Agoro Carbon’s commitment to walk along with every woman farmer in India and empower them.
Dr. Yebin Zhao, Global Agronomist, Agoro Carbon Alliance, said, “At Agoro Carbon Alliance, we work towards the success of every grower from the grassroots level. Being present on-ground with the farmers, and seeing their level of inquisitiveness in the questions they ask, we have realised how mature Indian farmers are. Agoro Carbon Alliance aims to enhance every farmer’s experience and quality of produce with our expertise. We aim to enable farmers in understanding the nuances of carbon farming.”
Prithviraj Sen Sharma, Managing Director of Agoro Carbon Alliance India, said, “We are delighted to close the Agoro Carbon Alliance Summer Season launch on a fruitful note. The event’s goal was to honour our grower friends who have been a part of our journey to make the transition to climate-positive practices and produce in a sustainable way. I am also delighted to share that, due to support from our ‘Agoro Hero,’ more farmers are coming forward to join us to begin a new chapter in their sustainable growth journey. Our Agoro Carbon Mitra’s will assist the potential farmers looking for guidance and support in understanding the challenges of farming. They will enable Agoro Carbon farmers & prospect growers with agronomic knowledge & intervention and day-to-day assistance in adopting sustainable and carbon farming practices.”
The event concluded with signing a letter of intent (LOI) with many farmers to start the Kharif crop season and assist growers in learning about various sustainable and carbon farming practices through Agoro carbon’s planned activities, seminars, and special events. This will help them reap the benefits of climate-smart crops, quality crop yield, and healthier soil, along with additional opportunities to earn extra income for their farming operations through carbon credit generation and become Atmanirbhar.
